Use of cookies

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small file, typically consisting of letters and numbers which is downloaded onto a computer or device when accessing certain websites.

When you use our website we may collect certain information about you. This includes details of any transactions you may carry out, details you provide in any forms you fill in and statistical data on how you use out website. We use this information in order to make using our website easier (for example remembering preferences, processing orders, notifying users of changes, and monitoring our website’s compatibility).

To collect this information we may use cookies. Like many websites, we use cookies to:

  • help us select the most relevant products to show to you
  • help us display information to you as speedily as possible, and measure the effectiveness of our website (and therefore constantly improve it for you)

Your web browser (the program on the computer that you use to access the Internet) will probably allow you to control cookies, including whether or not to accept them and how to remove them. However, if you do not allow the use of cookies on your computer, then some of the more sophisticated features on our website will be unavailable to you, for example, remembering that you prefer to view our site in a larger text size.

The cookies that we use on our site store information regarding the pages and products you have viewed, but do not store personal information that could be used to identify you as an individual. Cookies we use on our website

We take your security on our site very seriously. When you place an order, make a payment or access your account information, it's done using something called the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption method. What this means in plain English is that your details are converted into very secure code before they are sent from your computer to ours.

It is easy to spot if you are in a section of website that is using this SSL encryption method. On most computers, you will be able to see a small padlock symbol either at the bottom or the top of the page. If your computer doesn’t display this symbol, you will still be completely safe when you see that the address of the web page starts with the letters https://. So, whether you see the symbol or only the https://, in either case this means that your details are totally safe and will only be seen by us.
However, we do absolutely understand that some people are still a little wary. So we also have a number of alternatives that you may prefer.

When you order on our website, you can choose to pay by cheque or postal order. Just carry on through the checkout procedure, and you will be offered the chance to pay that way and given directions on how to send your payment to us.

You can also choose not to order via the website at all. You can print off your order when it is in your basket and send it to us. Or, you can call us on 0800 622 6001 (don’t forget, we pay for the call if you call us from a land line).
