Bath boards are designed to make getting in and out of the bath safer for people who have difficulties stepping over the side or lowering into the bath (this may be because of balance problems or reduced strength from arthritis, for example). The user sits on the bath board, which is positioned over the bath, and lifts their legs over the bath side to use an over bath shower or hand held shower attachment. Alternatively, they can move from the board onto a bath seat within the bath. The bath board is placed on top of the bath and secured by brackets that slide to adjust to fit to the internal width of the bath and hold it securely in place.
Measure the width of your bath from outside rim to outside rim; bath widths vary but usually fall within 65cm - 75cm (26" - 30").
For the bath board to sit safely on the top of the bath there needs to be a bath rim of approx 3.5cm (1") on either side to accommodate it.
The board must not overhang the bath rim because when a person sits on the board this could potentially tip with their weight.
